CoDA: Structure Committee Formed

March 14th 2019

STRUCTURE COMMITTEE FORMED The 2018 CoDA Service Conference authorized the Communications Committee to initiate an Ad Hoc (temporary) Committee to investigate whether the current structure of CoDA World Service could better serve the Fellowship and foster the carrying of our message. In particular, for many people doing service, business concerns seemed to predominate at times over Fellowship concerns and Fellowship work has felt hindered by insufficient support. And this has persisted despite many changes of personnel ...Continue Reading

CoDA: The 7th Tradition

March 2nd 2019

The 7th Tradition - Every CODA group ought to be fully self-supporting, declining outside contributions. At almost every meeting, a basket is passed to collect money. Ever wonder what happens to that money and why it is requested? Hopefully, this will answer your questions. [*]What do we do with the collected money? We all depend on our meetings being there when we need a meeting. In order to make that happen, many volunteers have to step up to do service and it needs to be funded. If you've ever wondered why we coll ...Continue Reading

CoDA Literature Committee Requests Submissions

February 17th 2019

The CoDA Literature Committee is asking for your contributions to a new piece of literature called Growing Up in CoDA: Becoming Emotionally Mature. The focus of this piece is on understanding how we are moving past our childhood problems by using the tools of the CoDA program. Most codependents know the feeling of being surprised by our own feelings and resulting behaviors. Many of us have, at times, felt like a child impersonating an adult, of feeling “little” in a grown up body, of over-reacting to small affronts, o ...Continue Reading

CoDA: 13th Stepping

February 15th 2019

13TH STEPPING A member reported: “I watched a member of the opposite sex repeatedly use recovery to flirt with newcomers. No one felt comfortable speaking up and I thought it was wrong. “ “In recovery, manipulating another into a relationship, be it emotional, financial, or sexual, violates the core values and Twelve Traditions of our program. “Thirteenth Stepping” is a term used to describe this kind of unhealthy relationship. Thirteenth-stepping is harmful to both people involved and to the overall health of a mee ...Continue Reading

Sponsorship In CoDA

January 26th 2019

SPONSORSHIP IN CoDA Sponsorship in CoDA is essentially different from sponsorship in other 12 step groups because of the nature of the disease of codependence. To be effective, CoDA sponsorship depends on the development of healthy boundaries on control issues such as advice-giving, care-taking, and rescuing. Giving feedback as sponsors, we can develop skills to be honest without advising, lecturing, or being verbally abusive. Sponsorship is a tool of recovery that helps the process of healing. It is not a requiremen ...Continue Reading
