What is Gratitude Month all about?
In gratitude to our Higher Power and to Co-Dependents Anonymous, Inc.
(CoDA), the 2014 CoDA Service Conference (CSC) has designated November as a time for individuals, local meetings, Intergroups and Voting Entities to give thanks for how CoDA has helped them to live life. Coda Service Conference (CSC) suggests that groups at all levels sponsor Gratitude Month by sending donations to the CoDA entities of their choice and/or by donating additional service to the CoDA entity of their choice. (Motion 14111)
When we work the program of Co-Dependents Anonymous we each realize a new freedom and joy. That is exponentially compounded by having an attitude of gratitude. Upon realizing the many blessings of my new lease on life, am I remembering to be thankful? Am I listening to this sound advice: "In order to keep it we have to give it back"? In CoDA, we have countless opportunities to practice gratitude. Here are some suggestions from fellow CoDA members:
· Start a gratitude journal, adding just 5 new things each week.
· Reach out to the still suffering codependent by starting a new meeting (starter information on www.coda.org)
· Being a designated downloader of CoDA announcements and meeting materials to share with your local home group or sharing information
· Be available and welcoming to the newcomer at your home group. (See our Healthy Meetings Matter booklet)
· Sponsoring or co-sponsoring (See our sponsorship booklet)
· Make a special financial contribution to your home group, Intergroup, Voting Entity or CoDA World, such as a Birthday Celebration Plan giving a set amount for every year in CoDA, or calculate what might have been spent if you had continued in your addictive or co-dependent behaviors and give a percentage of that savings by working your CoDA program.
This is a small sampling of how we can show our appreciation. Start with the simple question, "What am I thankful for?" and then let the magic happen.
We welcome ideas and feedback to help encourage participation and to include in future communications when this activity occurs each November. Send comments, suggestions, feedback by reply to comm@coda.org or feel free to discuss at our online forums at www.onlinecoda.net (requires a login)
Thank you to everyone involved with CODA who gratefully give of their time, energies, financial/service contributions, and their consciousness to participating and supporting this important work!

Per the 2nd tradition, For our group purpose there is but one ultimate authority, a loving higher power as expressed to our group conscience. Our leaders are but trusted servants; they do not govern. Developing a group conscience requires an informed fellowship, & to be effective trusted servants those you've elected must know the group conscience of the fellowship.
