Subject: CoDA Service Conference Motion 19054 Re: Tradition 11 Not Implemented
Date: October 27th 2019

Dear Fellowship Members,

At the 2019 CoDA Service Conference (CSC) in Atlanta, Motion Number 19054 requested a change in the wording of CoDA’s Tradition Eleven. Details are provided in the attachment. This item, originally a Voting Entity Issue submitted by Florida, was brought as a motion through the Service Structure Committee. The motion was discussed and voted on, passing by a simple majority vote (24 Yes, 12 No, 2 Abstentions).

CoDA’s By Laws clearly state that - “A simple majority is not binding on the Board of Trustees, although they may agree to be bound by the vote.

The Board’s group conscience on this matter also considered our responsibility to preserve the Foundational Documents, in accordance with the CoDA By Law Guidelines, that state: - “On behalf of the Fellowship, the Trustees shall act to prevent, within their power, any modifications, alterations or extensions of these Traditions or Concepts.”

Because the Board is bound to protect CoDA’s Foundational Documents, the Board will not be implementing Motion Number 19054: there will be no change to the wording of Tradition Eleven.
