Board and Website Update March 2018

In an effort to better inform the fellowship of what is happening with the board and the website, the board is sending out periodic information specific to the board and also information about the upcoming new website.

The board is getting ready for a face to face meeting in Tempe, Arizona. We will be working on solidifying the strategic plan as expressed by CSC 2017. The strategic plan is really a set of goals for the board, and we are hoping to extend that plan to all committees, in order to better serve the fellowship. In Tempe, we have set up a pot luck lunch with the local fellowship. The board is, at each face to face, trying to meet with local fellowship; answering their questions, sharing what is working for the local fellowship, any requests of the board they may have, plus their desires for the growth of CoDA.

The biggest thing the board is working on is the website. Our web developer was found through the fellowship and has been a good fit for CoDA. We have been studying the current website – how many visitors, where do they visit (what pages, what items) – so we can better understand what the fellowships needs are. We found out that there are more than 40,000 visitors to our website each month, that most visitors are newcomers, that they spend an average of just over 2 minutes on the website. This allows us to make decisions on what needs to be highlighted on the website. We have never had these analytics available before and they are proving to be a great aid as we move along. At CSC 2017, the board thought it would only be a few months to a new site, and that has proven to be a mistake. It is taking more time, but we are making sure every decision is well thought out. The meeting locator is being worked on now, so we will have a better way to find a meeting; along with that we will be removing many of the layers you have to go through to find something, and a search function that will work well. Although the web workgroup is (intentionally) small, it is very dedicated and working hard. We have a potential main page and are excited about the look; it is still being tweaked, but here is our beginning (please note few buttons are showing yet for donations or contact us and others – this is not the final product):
