FRIDAY FELLOWSHIP ITEMS #1: The Plan

Have you ever wondered, “Is this the only CoDA meeting in the world?” “Where did this come from and how is it continuing?” The words you have been hearing every meeting begin to register: “Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to other codependents…..” There is something outside that room of my meeting that has made that meeting possible. What might that be?

Those are common and worthy questions. To answer them, the Communications Committee of CoDA World Service is planning to provide reports every week at this time and place to make the Fellowship known to the Fellowship. Some topic ideas we are beginning with are:

Stories of incidents when members made a difference by applying what was learned from CoDA

Explanations of the different layers of the Fellowship, regional groups, and how they spread and safeguard the message

What about phone meetings, online, chat, social media meetings?

What is it like at the CoDA Service Conference?

What is the CoDA Convention like?

Information on Motions approved by and proposed to the CoDA Service Conference

Committees and other parts of World Service and what they are trying to do

Where does CoDA literature come from and what makes it “Conference endorsed?”

What is World Service doing for people in prisons and other institutions?

How does World Service keep going with “no one in charge,” the inverted pyramid?

Why does this spiritual program need a Corporation?

Why the fuss about trademarks and copyrights?

What is involved in keeping the web site going and up to date? The same for CoDA Announcements (where you are right now) and the Meeting Finder

Stories of how CoDA is spreading worldwide; how many languages are being used to conduct CoDA meetings

The inspiration felt as members tell of their moments of “aha!” when doing service work.

Business meetings and how to deal with disagreements

How do people doing service apply our program with one another; the Twelve Service Concepts

Stories of CoDA principles being applied outside the Fellowship

And so on…..including others you may suggest to comm@coda.org

 

So that is the “Plan.” God may well laugh but perhaps some of it, at least, will happen.
