Growing Up
Hi, I'm Ashley and I'm codependent. Growing up I've always relied on others to give me a sense of purpose, worth, safety and love but never allowed myself to find that from within. After a recent break up, looking back I realized that despite believing I was recovering, my codependency was very much running my life and my relationship.
So, in mourning the loss of that relationship I have chosen to heal rather than to regret so that I may live in the present and not the past. I will remember that though my intentions were never to harm anyone that I've loved, by remaining unhealed I unintentionally caused the people around me pain where they did not deserve it. I know I will heal and become the kind, supportive and thoughtful person I've always known myself to be and that I will find healthy, secure, and meaningful love because of my efforts.
