Shy’s Personal Step One Prayer
God, I thank You for showing me just how powerless I am over another, and just how unmanageable my life had become - for I was blinded by my codependency. Thank You for opening my eyes and showing me that the only person I have control over is myself.
God, You’ve shown me that controlling others is a false sense of security; that looking to others for direction doesn’t support me living my own life; that I have been intruding upon other’s journeys by being in their business; that thinking in terms of black and white is being rigid. You have handed me the shovel to dig deep and I need not fear because Your hands are on the shovel with mine, surrounding me with Your Presence. When I get weary from uncovering all these truths, I know that I can simply fall back into Your embrace, for You are my Comforter.
God, slowly through these Steps You’re teaching me to let go and most importantly to trust You more, because what You have planned for me is far greater than I could ever imagine. Amen
