My experience serving on the CoDA Board
I will never forget the question arriving in my inbox, “Will you run for the Board?” I was stunned to think that someone thought that I might have something of value to offer our Fellowship. Within about a month I was voted to the Board of Trustees.
During my 3 year term, I experienced every emotion possible – the first and foremost being fear. I found that my HP met my fear with great courage, strength and faith. I learned to work my program of recovery in a deeper manner. I used our principles found in the Steps to interact with other Board members, especially when I felt angry. I used the Traditions to help me cast my vote during a group conscience decision. I grew emotionally and spiritually in ways I never dreamed possible. I learned new skills that have since aided me in a new career.
My experience serving on the CoDA Board of Trustees changed me forever. Where I once had fear, I now have confidence. Where I once fell silent, I now speak my truth. Where I once doubted my abilities, I now trust myself in partnership with my God. Truly I am not the same woman today that I was when I joined the Board. I am forever grateful to the Fellowship of CoDA, my fellow Board members, and to my God.
