Recovery
I look at the young child
So free and so wild.
She seems so unsure
Like there is something more...
She lives through the days
Looking for ways
To make it okay
Through night and through day.
Her home’s a disguise
she sees through her eyes.
Something’s not right,
So she put up a fight.
Her soul is pure her heart is gold,
She wants a hug, a hand to hold.
It’s just not there
She wonders why...
So many times she starts to cry.
“It’s not your fault!”
I try to say
To make her smile and not afraid.
“You’re beautiful , you’re sweet and kind.
Now you must make up your mind.
To love yourself through thick and thin,
That’s the way to truly win.
Your higher power is there for you.
You must believe it’ll help you through.”
She looks at my face, I connect to her soul.
We tightly embrace as she gains control.
I sigh with content, it’s amazing to see.
That new happy child is me.....
