What and When is CSC?
A CoDA Service Conference (CSC) is held each
year in order to transact the business of CoDA by group conscience.
This is CoDA’s annual business meeting. The location varies from
year to year. Delegates to CSC elect trusted servants, review
budgets and expenditures, authorize literature, and develop goals
for our organization and plans to reach those goals.
While voting privileges are restricted,
all CoDA members are welcome to attend the Conference and work on a
CoDA committee.
Why did the dates for CSC change?
Our Conference hotel is in a very desirable location of Chicago due to its proximity
to the Loop (downtown Chicago), and because the hotel is within walking distance to
many, many restaurants/bars/theatres/music and cultural places/Wrigley Field, Lincoln Park Zoo, etc.
We could not get all of guest rooms for the weekend dates at CSC. We could get the guest rooms
during the week, but we could not most of our rooms for Friday and Saturday nights. Attendees would
have to change rooms, if rooms were available, or move to another hotel. This would be unacceptable
and stressful for all.
The most reasonable thing to do was move Spirituality Day up one day, so all of our people could stay
in the same rooms for the entire duration of CSC.
Therefore, Spirituality Day moves up to Monday, September 8; business starts Tuesday, 9/9, Wed.,
Thursday and ends on Friday.
Regarding people who wish to stay for the weekend: the rooms are still open from
Sunday, September 7th through Saturday night--however Friday/Saturday rooms are limited and on a first
come, first served basis. The board room (where Board will meet) and our CSC committee room will be
available for Friday and Saturday, and many other rooms are available. They increase in price for the
weekend.
We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause those who've already made their
flights, but this was the smartest thing to do given the circumstances. Finding another hotel at this point
is not an option.
Will there be a banquet this year?
From the beginning of CSC planning, the committee
had planned for no banquet because there will be two lunches. Saturday
would have only been for conference business if the conference had
not been moved up one day.
How do I get informational packets for CSC?
The CSC committee places information on the CoDA website for the
delegates and for the public.
The easiest way to get this information is to register for the
conference and pay the applicable fees. After that, you will
receive an email telling you how to obtain the information from
the CoDA website.
How do I register?
Please see next column!
If there is no registration information in the next column, then
it is not available yet. As soon as this information is
available, this is where it will be placed.
How can I get a scholarship to attend CSC?
Information on scholarships is available by clicking
here.
How can my State/Country host a CSC?
The CSC committee likes to have locations
lined up at least two years in advance. To get your location on the list, contact the
CSC committee (csc@coda.org) or come and make your presentation at CSC.
