Volunteers Needed

There are many service opportunities which require varying lengths of service commitment and experience. Several committees are in need of volunteers. This listing has some requirements and links to additional information.

The Board of Trustees:

The CoDA Board of Trustees is primarily responsible for conducting the business affairs and the operations of the corporation between CoDA Service Conferences (CSCs). Members are elected at CSC for 3 year terms. We try to elect at least 2 new Trustees each year so that not too many Trustees' terms end at the same time. If you are interested in running for the Board at some time in the near future, please become familiar with the duties and qualifications as described in our By Laws (http://coda.org/pdfs/bylaws_2006.pdf) and our Fellowship Service Manual (http://coda.org/pdfs/Fellowship_Service_Manual_of_CoDA_2011.pdf). A new version of the By Laws will be voted on for approval at the upcoming CSC and contains some changes to the duties and qualifications (http://coda.org/pdfs/bylaws_2012_draft.pdf). A Trustee application can be found at http://coda.org/service/trustee-application.pdf. New Trustees will be elected at this year's service conference and must be available to interview either in person or by phone. If interested please email your complete application to board@coda.org.

Spanish Outreach:

Spanish outreach is in need of your assistance! We are looking for volunteers to help transmit our message of recovery to others Spanish-speaking codependents still suffering. If you are able to communicate in English and Spanish, and are attending CoDA meetings for more than six months, this is your opportunity to practice your recovery, while at the same time, learn about the work done in CoDA. For more information, please contact espanol@coda.org.

Communication Committee and Phone Volunteers

The Communication Committee has a main charter of improving communication throughout CoDA. Our operations include the email list you are reading now as well as other lists, defining and designing improved methods of communicating, and staffing a volunteer phone answering system that will eventually supersede and replace the paid service we have today. We need volunteers who have 2 years in CoDA and have worked the Steps and have an understanding of the Traditions. We also need folks who are willing to attend a monthly phone conference call and participate in our projects. We need ideas and people willing to implement those ideas. For the phones we need people who are willing to respond to calls from both English and/or Spanish speakers and who understand that this is not a crisis line, that we are not therapists, and that we can only provide information about CoDA. See our committee description at: http://coda.org/service/CommService.htm More information on qualifications for those needed to respond to calls is available by clicking on flyer on the above page. If interested in joining our committee please email comm@coda.org.

Finance Committee

The Finance committee is in need of volunteers who have an interest in helping CoDA maintain a healthy financial status. You don’t need particular expertise, although we welcome accounting or bookkeeping skills. We seek these qualities: An interest in the financial viability of our Fellowship and stability in your personal financial life. If interested in joining our committee please email finance@coda.org.

IMC

IMC is seeking more volunteer members. Members of IMC are elected each year at our annual service conference. This year's conference starts soon, on July 10. All current and past Delegates & Alternate Delgates are welcome to join. We are seeking trusted servants who know CoDA's 12 Service Concepts; 12 Traditions and CoDA's principles and/or are willing to learn them. We are also seeking trusted servants who have good listening skills, patience, can be objective toward all parties in disputes and exhibit high standards of fairness and integrity. If you believe you are such a person or want to learn more the IMC, please read all about the IMC here: http://coda.org/service/IMC.htm. If you want to be considered for election this year, please email imc@coda.org.

The purpose of this list is to share information with any & all CoDA members, especially that which may effect CoDA as a whole.

We will be sending out regular emails with CoDA events, announcements, issues & CoDA business of interest to both specific regions & to the entire CoDA fellowship.

Per the 2nd tradition, For our group purpose there is but one ultimate authority, a loving higher power as expressed to our group conscience. Our leaders are but trusted servants; they do not govern. Developing a group conscience requires an informed fellowship, & to be effective trusted servants those you've elected must know the group conscience of the fellowship.
